Weblogic Terminology
Domain:
The basic administrative unit of a Weblogic Server Installation is a Domain. A logically related group of Weblogic server resources that managed as a unit.
Server:
A server is a instance of weblogic.Server executing in a JVM. A server runs on a designated Machine(node)and has dedicated amount of RAM.
Machine:
Machine is a computer that hosts one or more Weblogic Sever.
Administration Server:
An Administration Server is the central point of control for a domain. It Stores the configuration information and logs for a domain and runs the Weblogic administration console.
Managed Server:
A managed server is any server in a domain that is not a admin server. It contacts the admin server for configuration information and runs business application.
Cluster:
A cluster is a logical group of Weblogic servers. It provide automatic fault tolerance, Load-balancing and High availability.
Node Manager:
It's a daemon which start/stop/restart servers in a domain remotely.
